Abstract
To evaluate the effect of impacted cancellous allografts and cement on revision total hip arthroplasty 56 hips, performed by this method during 1998 to 2000 at our hospital were followed up 7 to 9 years, Thirty five hips (62.5%) completed for follow-up by visiting or phone call, Significant improvement of pain, function, and movement of hip joint were observed and cortical healing and trabecular incorporation on graft by x-ray were appeared in 34 hips (97.1%) and 33 hips (94.3%),respectively. Our results suggested that the use of impacted cancellous allografts and cement for fixation of the femoral component is useful when revision total hip arthroplasty is required. Further prospective and controlled studies should be recommended for our hypothesis.
